Sailing Adventure Story Published as eBook for Kindle, Elex Devices
Edwards edited and served as project manager for e-publication of The Golden Ketch
SAN DIEGO, Calif. The sailing adventure story, The Golden Ketch, was released this week as an e-publication for the Kindle ebook platform.
Written by William Hesselbacher and Michael C. Lee, the historical novella weaves a tale of intrigue set against the backdrop of World War II in the South Pacific.
Larry Edwards served as editor and manager of the e-publishing project.
"The ebook platform is an effective, fast-track publishing option for unknown authors like Bill and Mike,” said Edwards, a freelance book editor and publishing consultant. “The book publishing industry, like the music industry, has been turned on its head, giving writers an opportunity to make a name for themselves where in the conventional publishing world that would be a high mountain to climb."
Told at a breathless pace, The Golden Ketch [ASIN:
B005SUMEX8] begins as Japan invades the Philippines in 1941 and American PT
boat commander John Weldon vows to “never surrender.” Faced with overwhelming
odds, John rescues his Filipina bride from a sadistic Japanese Commander and
escapes by commandeering a Tahiti ketch. In the bilge of the sailboat lie two tons
of gold—and the Japanese Commander wants it back. John embarks on a sailing
odyssey that takes him and his pregnant wife halfway around the world and deep
into the international politics of the time, including the formation of the new
nation of Israel.
"I’m confident that not only sailors but anyone who likes stories of action-adventure, history and intrigue will enjoy reading our book," said Bill Hesselbacher, who just happens to own a John Hanna-designed Tahiti ketch.

Edwards recently oversaw the editing and publication of Golden: An
American Odyssey, a memoir by Michael L. Hughes. A stock-car driver turned entrepreneur recounts his thrill ride through life. The hardcover book is available through Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and other book retailers.
